Easter Island, or as the natives call it Rapa Nui, is a remote volcanic island in the South Pacific, 2,300 miles from the Chilean coast. The Polynesian island is famous for its mysterious Moai statues, and mystic atmosphere. It offers a wide range of activities, from hiking on volcanoes to relax on the sandy beaches.

We have prepared the following programs for our customers. However, all our products can be tailormade! Get in touch so that we can accommodate your needs and requests! 4 Days - 3 Nights

ITINERARY 

Day 1 – Arrive at Easter Island, Drop off at Your Hotel, Visit Ahu Akivi, Ana Te Pahu, and Tahai. 

On the first day, our guide will Pick up at the Mataveri Airport and transport you to your place of accommodation chosen in Hanga Roa town,  where you will be welcomed by friendly local staff. On route, our local guide will explain what is planned for the next few days. After lunch, our guide will pick you up to take you to the Ahu Akivi, the stone platform, or “ahu,” with the only stone statues, or “moai,” facing towards the ocean. This is a very significant place for the people of the island, as it is related to the legend that gave birth to the Rapa Nui culture and also explains the landing of the Polynesian people on this island. Later you will visit Ana Te Pahu also known as “Cueva de Los Plátanos,” one of the biggest caves of  Rapa Nui.  Finally, you will visit the ceremonial center of Tahai. There you will see the remains of an old village,  the famous Ahu Vai Huri (black water in Rapanui) with its 5 moais, the Ahu Tahai with only one moai that could be the oldest “ahu” in all Rapanui. Finally, you will experience the sunset from Tahai. After you will be taken to your place of accommodation. 

Day 2 – Discover the Ceremonial Village of Orongo, Rano Kau Volcano, Ana Kai Tangata Cave, and Vinapu área.  – Half-Day Tour

Your local guide will pick you up by a car, then you will go ahead to discover the SouthWest side of Rapanui. You will be taken to Ana Kai Tangata Cave, formed with the constant volcanic eruptions and which is 10 meters wide, 5 meters high, and 15 meters deep. There, you will see cave paintings and immerse yourself into the legends of Rapanui.  Then,  you will be taken to the Rano Kau Volcano’s lookout point to wonder with a unique view that we can assure you won’t find anywhere else in the world. In this place, you will also visit the ceremonial village of Orongo where you will get to know the history of Tangata Manu. Thereafter, you will go to visit Vinapu archeological site where you will see the Ahu Tahira, learn more about the moais, about the Pukaos ( the hats), and the only moai that could represent a female. After this experience, you will return to your hotel to chill for a few hours. 

In the evening, our guide will pick you up to take you to a Dinner show to try typical Rapa Nui food, and also see a folkloric dance group. 

Day 3 – Discover Vaihu, Akahanga, Hanga Tetenga, Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, Te Pito Kura and Anakena.  – Full-Day Tour of Easter Island. 

On the third day, you will take a complete day tour along the Southeast and Northeast coast. you will visit Akahanga Temple where according to the oral tradition, the first “Ariki” (king) of the island was buried. There, you will see the big platform 18 meters long with 13 moais collapsed after the internal wars that existed between the island’s tribes. After visiting you will have a better idea of the main features of this culture and how they used to interact in the past. In Akahanga you will also see an old town with some “Hare paenga” (boat houses) and “umu pae” (stone ovens). Afterward, you will visit the Rano Raraku volcano that for hundreds of years, serves as a quarry for carving out the Moais. The landscape will take you breath away as you make your own way to the volcano crater while observing the Moais filled valley.  Then, you will have the opportunity to contemplate the biggest monument in all the Polynesia,  the Ahu Tongariki with its fifteen stone guards facing the ocean. Later on, you will be amazed by the circular magnetic stones and the surrounding landscapes at Te Pito Kura. our last stop will be Anakena, a white sand beach with pristine waters where you will have time to swim and to chill out after the long day.  Once you arrive at your hotel,  you will have a free evening – night. 

Day 4 –  End of the tour. Time to say goodbye. Depending on the time of your flight, we could visit the Ahu Tongariki for the sunrise. If so, you will not visit the place the day before which will give you more time to spend at the beach the day before. Our guide will pick you up at your place of accommodation and take you to the airport to come back to the mainland.

6 Days - 5 Nights

ITINERARY 

Day 1 – Arrive at Easter Island and Go to Your Hotel.

On the first day, our guide will Pick up at the Mataveri Airport and transport you to your place of accommodation chosen in Hanga Roa town,  where you will be welcomed by friendly local staff. You will have the rest of the day free to explore on your own. Nevertheless, if you feel like requiring guidance,  we can arrange a local guide to do a city tour throughout the Hanga Roa town finishing with an incredible sunset from Tahai 😉 

Day 2 – Discover the Ceremonial Village of Orongo, Rano Kau Volcano, Ana Kai Tangata Cave, and Vinapu área.  – Half-Day Tour.

Your local guide will pick you up by a car, then you will go ahead to discover the SouthWest side of Rapanui. Day 3 – Discover Vaihu, Akahanga, Hanga Tetenga, Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, Te Pito Kura and Anakena.  – Full-Day Tour of Easter Island. 

On the third day, you will take a complete day tour along the Southeast and Northeast coast. You will visit the archeological site named “Vaihu” (place of water in Rapanui) area where you will see the “Ahu Hanga Te’e” with 8 moai toppled and their hats scattered on the ground all over the place,  that will allow the guide to tell you more about the tribes wars and the natural resources exploitation that took place in the island. You will see cliffs and learn about the horse riding competition that takes place there each year during the “Tapati” (Week in Rapanui) festival during the summers. Then, you will visit Akahanga Temple where according to the oral tradition, the first “Ariki” (king) of the island was buried. On the fourth day, you will visit the ceremonial center of Tahai. First, you will see the rest of an old village,  the famous Ahu Vai Huri (black water in Rapanui) with its 5 moais, the Ahu Tahai with only one moai but that according to studies, it could be the oldest ahu in all Rapanui. Later, you will go to Puna Pau, a small extinct volcano located 7km from Hanga Roa that is recognized for being a crater with a giant deposit of red slag, the stone with which these hats “pukaos” were built. Next, you will go to Ana Te Pahu also known as “Cueva de Los Plátanos,” one of the biggest caves of  Rapa Nui.  Finally, you will be taken to the Ahu Akivi, the stone platform, or “ahu,” with the only stone statues, or “moai,” facing towards the ocean. This is a very significant place for the people of the island, as it is related to the legend that gave birth to the Rapa Nui culture and also explains the landing of the Polynesian people on this island. After your tour, you will have the afternoon to chill.

After you have rested during your afternoon, in the evening, our guide will pick you up to go to enjoy a unique stargazing experience where you will be able to see the beauty of star clusters, nebulae, galaxies stars, and planets visible through our high powered telescope. You will learn about the constellations of interest to the Polynesian navigators, relating some of the stories and legends that are tied to them, and understand techniques on how to find certain cardinal points of the traditional Polynesian compass by using the layout of the night sky. Finish the night with a hot beverage before returning to your hotel.

Day 5 – (optional) –  Explore on Your Own or take another tour experience. 

On the fifth day, you will have one day free to explore the island on your own or take one of our day or half-day tours such as:

  • Sailing and fishing with a local fisherman – 6 hours.
  • Scuba diving – 3-4 hours. 
  • Horseback ride – 4 hours.
  • Private trekking to the Poike or to the Maunga Terevaka hill (the highest point in the island) – 6-8 hours

Day 6 –  End of the tour. Time to say goodbye. Depending on the time of your flight, our guide will pick you up at your place of accommodation and take you to the airport to come back to the mainland.

Regarding the ticket for the national park. You can buy advance entrance tickets online to the Rapa Nui National Park. They are valid for 10 days and allow you to enter all the protected places. They are also available to purchase at the airport when you arrive. 

– Wear comfortable clothes and sports shoes.

– Always carry a windbreaker, sunscreen, and water with you. The weather is tropical and it is common to experience rain, even on a sunny day.
